General Missionary Organization

There is a General Missionary Organizations (GMO) that is composed of 9 adult circles and the Brotherhood Ministry. Joint meetings are held on the first Friday of each month. The purpose of the group is to respond to the needs of the un-churched, and Saint John members. The Ministry also addresses the needs of the sick, those who are in foster care; the homebound; assist in funding scholarships; contributes to prison ministries; migrant workers; mentoring; back-to-school activities, and the bereaved. Each Circle meets monthly and has identified specific mission projects that they work to complete. Some of the projects include: visiting nursing homes and shelters; hospitals; Harvest Hope Food Bank and supporting Benedict and Morris Colleges. The GMO also supports the Gethsemane Association, the South Carolina Education and Missionary Convention and the projects of the church Women United. An annual event that is successfully planned and executed is the Hopeful Dinner for those that are homeless and in need throughout the community on Christmas Eve. Joint meetings of the Circles take place monthly. The list of Missionary Circles is provided below:
