Choirs

The Department of Music has six different and unique opportunities for members to share their vocal, instrumental and dance talents. The four vocal groups are listed first followed by the Instrumental Ensemble. Each choir and supporting musician is committed to produce excellence in music and worship. This unified ministry is focused on promoting the Kingdom of God through worship. Because of the diversity of various styles of music which they produce, SJBC is able to render all of the music of the churches tradition; which includes anthems, hymns, arranged spirituals, traditional and contemporary gospel music. SJBC believes in Apostle Paul's mandate: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you... as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." (Colossians 3:16)

The Senior Choir

VISION:
The Senior Choir is a service auxiliary of the church which emphasizes harmony of the spirit and unity of effort. It helps to implement the purpose of the church by furnishing worshipful music on Sunday mornings and special services and by maintaining home missionary projects in the church and community.

The Senior Choir is also an outreach ministry for the Senior Musical Choir. We render worship music during the first and third Sunday morning worship service.

MISSION:
Our mission project--is to serve the patients at the Tucker Center. We provide service during the Easter season, Valentine's Day and the Christmas season-to a word that we have adopted (word 132) Rodney Building.

We also serve with the Senior Ministry as we have one senior Four Score member we serve on special occasions. At the request of one of our deceased senior member, we serve and donate to a needy child or family (as needed). We help other ministries of the church as needed. We also assist the youth group with Sister Pulley as needed.

In the past year, we received a plaque and certificate for fifteen years of dedicated service to the Tucker Center-of which we are very proud to serve.

The Gospel/Jubilee Choir

VISION:
To be spiritually uplifting for Christians and unsaved people through songs, prayers, and testimony.

MISSION:
The Gospel/Jubilee Choir reminds you of back years ago when forefathers sang without music. The only sounds that were made were by stomping of feet and clapping of hands. They used Metered hymns and Sharpe notes. Words were made up as the workers worked and sang in the fields. Today, we are a group of adults that takes you back to your roots by singing without music and offering a high time of praise. We also visit the Westside Residential Home the fourth Thursday night of every month at 7:00p.m.
